Homogenization in Fractional Elasticity
In this note we treat the equations of fractional elasticity. After establishing well-posedness, we show a compactness result related to the theory of homog-enization. For this, a previous result in (abstract) homogenization theory of evolutionary equations has to be improved. The approach also permits the consideration of non-local operators (in time and space).

We consider the question of global existence of small, smooth, and localized solutions of a certain fractional semilinear cubic NLS in one dimension, i∂tu − Λu = c0|u| 2 u + c1u 3 + c2uu 2 + c3u 3 , Λ = Λ(∂x) = |∂x| 1 2 , where c0 ∈ R and c1, c2, c3 ∈ C. This model is motivated by the two-dimensional water wave equation, which has a somewhat similar structure in the Eulerian formulation, in the...
متن کاملSpatial Epidemics: Critical Behavior in One Dimension
In the simple mean-field SIS and SIR epidemic models, infection is transmitted from infectious to susceptible members of a finite population by independent p−coin tosses. Spatial variants of these models are proposed, in which finite populations of size N are situated at the sites of a lattice and infectious contacts are limited to individuals at neighboring sites. Scaling laws for these models...

We discuss a reaction-diffusion model in one dimension subjected to an external driving force. Each lattice site may be occupied by at most one particle. The particles hop with rates (1± η)/2 to the right or left nearest neighbour site if it is vacant, and annihilate with rate one if it is occupied. We compute the long time behaviour of the space dependent average density in states where the in...

We consider 1 + 1 dimensional SU(N) gauge theory coupled to a multiplet of massive Dirac fermions transforming in the adjoint representation of the gauge group. The only global symmetry of this theory is a U(1) associated with the conserved Dirac fermion number, and we study the theory at variable, non-zero densities. The high density limit is characterized by a deconfined Fermi surface state w...
